01.00.   GENERAL  INFORMATION
Miami Sailing Club is a traditional association dedicated to the ocean, sailing, and the arts of navigation.  It's objectives are condensed in three simple expressions: seriousness, realism, and expertise.

These special summer courses date as far back as the foundation of the MIAMI SAILING SCHOOL, INC., in 1982.  While individual instruction varies, good manners and discipline are always enforced.  A permanent staff of instructors conducts these courses, even though the instruction levels do not correspond to the regular international certification standards.  Courses are easygoing weekly sailing activities aboard the club's high performance vessels in the 30' LOA category, especially designed for youngsters' enjoyment, while they learn some of the arts of this sport.  Each child is treated at the corresponding level of age and maturity to be able to understand and absorb the imparted information.  Certificates of completion are issued for perfect assistance only.

Please check the enclosed literature for additional details and requirements.

Courses are prepaid in full and tuition is non-refundable.  Occasionally, as a special consideration, a reservation may be re-scheduled, when requested at least 10 (ten) or more days prior to the previously reserved date, when space and instructor is available.  Otherwise the payment is forfeited.  The payment is also forfeited if parents decide for whatever reason not to send the child to the previosuly reserved and confirmed session.  Make-up time is impossible.  Sessions begin on time and late-comers may miss a class altogether.  Instructors may not receive calls requesting to wait for a child arriving late.  They are not authorized to delay a class because of one late child.  Children are expected at the dock before the indicated time.

While delays beyond our control, when returning to the harbor may occur at times due to light or no wind, parents must make sure to be present for the pickup of their child no later than 15 (fifteen) minutes after due time of arrival.  As instructors are scheduled for different courses, there may be nobody available to stay with your child. Unfortunately, we can not operate as a day-care center.

Please make sure to indicate in the registration form the exact level of swimming expertise your child has, and answer all questions.  Should the child require special attention, this must be indicated in the form.  The school reserves the right to refuse any child for this activity.

03.05.04. - Classes are held rain or shine.  Few drops never hurt anyone.  In case of really bad weather, the instructor will hold a substitute theory session aboard the flagship
03.06.00. Return to harbor -
03.06.01. - Unforeseen late arrivals may be caused by light or non-existing wind conditions.  Unfortunately, as much as we would like, in this sense we have no control over the weather conditions
03.06.02. - We request a parent or the authorized person be at the dock in time for the return, regardless if the vessel is back or not. Special arrangements may be made with the Instructor
03.06.03. - Late arrival:   Several simple causes may occasion delayed return.  Late arrival is unintentional and is no cause for alarm
03.07.00. Late arrival Due to the unpredictability of the wind, we prefer if students call the parents upon return.  Any parent is welcome to come before the scheduled arrival to see the boat enter the harbor and unrig.  If they are late, do not think they sailed to Cuba.  They simply lost the wind and are adrift, having a great time
03.08.00. Pickup -
03.08.01. - Child may be picked up no later than 15 (fifteen) minutes after the scheduled time of return.  When boat is delayed, upon the arrival

03.10.02. - Courses are non-refundable
03.10.03. - Requests of changes in schedule, when called in at least 7 (seven) days or more prior to the originally scheduled & reserved class, may be intended as a special attention by the instructor within reason and possibilities.  It is in no way guaranteed.  If not possible, the tuition is forfeited
